Gonarezhou National Park

One of Africa’s great wilderness areas, the 5 000 square kilometre Gonarezhou in the lowveld of south-eastern Zimbabwe comprises sprawling bushveld, cut through by the Save, Runde and Mwenezi Rivers. The iconic sandstone Chilojo Cliffs on the edge of the Runde river is the park’s most famous scene, but there is commensurately impressive wildlife to match the landscape: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, cheetah and giraffe are seen, while the furtive Suni antelope can also be spotted. I will be exploring this park with local guide Anthony Kaschula of Gonarezhou Bush-Camps. To join me and Anthony in Gonarezhou, click here.
